AI Overviews is an answer box inside classic Google results, while Google AI Mode is a separate conversational search mode. Referenced scans and scores them as two engines, so you can see where you appear in one but not the other.

Yes. Google AI Mode sometimes returns nothing for a query, and Referenced records that as a valid, complete result rather than a failed scan. A tracked prompt with no AI Mode answer counts as a real data point, not a gap in your reporting.

Yes. Referenced maps the country set on each prompt, or your site's country if the prompt has none, to a Google location before fetching AI Mode results. Targeting is country-level, so results reflect what searchers in that country see.

Google AI Mode is a premium add-on, not included by default. It costs from £19 a month on Brand and is switched on from the Models page. Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity stay included on every plan.
